PAN Card Photo & Signature Requirements (NSDL / UTIITSL)
When applying for a new PAN card or updating an existing one online, the Income Tax Department requires you to upload your photograph and signature in a specific format and size. Failing to meet these requirements usually results in an application rejection or upload error.
Photograph Requirements
- Dimensions: 213 x 213 pixels
- Resolution: 300 DPI
- Maximum File Size: 30 KB
- Format: JPEG / JPG
- Background: White or plain light background
- Face Visibility: Face should cover 80% of the photo
Signature Requirements
- Dimensions: 400 x 200 pixels
- Resolution: 600 DPI (often 300 DPI is accepted online)
- Maximum File Size: 60 KB
- Format: JPEG / JPG
- Ink Color: Black ink on white paper is preferred
- Clarity: Must not be blurred or pixelated
